The Chronicle reports: "Dr. Sheldon Wolff, a UCSF scientist whose research led to major insights in understanding the human effects of nuclear radiation, died of pulmonary fibrosis at his home in Mill Valley on May 24 after a long illness. He was 79."

US News reports: "Researchers say one of the best ways of soothing stress is to be 'mindful,' to pause and actually tune in to what's going on at the moment. ... Elissa Epel, an associate professor of psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, and her colleagues are currently studying whether 50 overweight women who describe themselves as 'stress eaters' can curb food cravings by practicing mindfulness... ."

- Symposium Addresses Glass Ceiling in the University Setting (UCSF Today)
The UCSF Center for Gender Equity today hosts women from throughout the UC system who will attend “Women Leaders 2008: A Symposium About Women in University Settings.” The biennial conference takes place today and tomorrow at the Parc 55 Hotel in downtown San Francisco.
