  • Harvard Glee Club Marks 150th With Disney Visit (Palisadian-Post)
    The Palisadian-Post reports: "Among the many influential alumni of the Harvard Glee Club, which have included Leonard Bernstein, Virgil Thomson, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, and Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun, are four residents of Pacific Palisades: Malcolm Schultz (1964), Dr. Thomas Freeman (1969), Adam Wolman (1988) and recent graduate Matthew Growdon, who received his AB in 2007. ... Growdon, who now works as a clinical research coordinator for the Memory and Aging Center at University of California San Francisco, looks back fondly on his days in the Harvard Glee Club."
  • Judge rules court won't step in to aid vets (San Francisco Chronicle)
    The Chronicle reports: "The federal government is subjecting veterans to long delays in obtaining mental health care and medical benefits, but the power to change the system rests with officials and Congress, not the courts, a federal judge in San Francisco ruled Wednesday in dismissing a lawsuit by veterans' advocates. U.S. District Judge Samuel Conti said veterans' groups had failed to show a 'systemwide crisis' in mental health care that would justify the courts intervening in the workings of the Department of Veterans Affairs."

  • UC Libraries Launch Pilot of Melvyl Catalog Replacement (UCSF Today)
    The University of California (UC) libraries have launched a pilot version of a replacement for the current Melvyl Catalog, which contains records for holdings at all 10 UC campuses. UCSF library users are encouraged to test the pilot, called Melvyl@UCSF, and to offer feedback on how well it meets their needs.
