Pay attention to daily reports and your body's reactions." --- Dr. John Balmes, professor at professor at the UCSF medical school and director of San Francisco General Hospital's occupational and environmental medicine division, is quoted.
- Screening for Cancer in Elderly Fuels Fight (New York Times)
The New York Times reports: "So far, large clinical trials focused on the benefits of screening for breast cancer have ignored the booming population of elderly women." --- Dr. Louise C. Walter, a staff physician at San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center, is quoted.

- Doctors recommend cholesterol lowering drugs for young kids (CBS 5 Eyewitness News at 5 PM - KPIX-TV)
CBS 5 reports: "A new study from the American Academy of Pediatrics says that children 8 years and up who are obese should have their cholesterol checked to possibly get cholesterol lowering drugs to help prevent heart disease at a older age." --- UCSF and San Francisco General Hospital professor Dr. Elena Fuentes Afflick, is interviewed. --- This program also aired on 7/8 at 5 AM.

- Police to Teach Survival Strategies, Response to Active Shooter on Campus (UCSF Today)
Last year’s tragic shooting incident at Virginia Tech caused college campuses across the nation to reevaluate their emergency preparedness plans. In an effort to respond effectively to a UCSF campus shooting, the UCSF Police Department is launching an “Active Shooter” program that will focus on preparation and education.
