Dana Frank, professor of history at the University of California, Santa Cruz, comments on the 5-day strike by the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) union that represents service workers at all UC campuses, including UCSF Medical Center.
- Seymour Zoger - pediatric oncologist at UCSF (San Francisco Chronicle)
The Chronicle reports: "Seymour Zoger, a pediatric oncologist at UCSF Medical Center and retired sole practitioner in San Francisco, had such a magical way with children that they usually didn't want to let him go. ... Dr. Zoger, who had been visiting Israel with his family, died in a Tel Aviv hospital July 10 of complications from pneumonia. He was 80."
